Inaugural Fashion
On a lighter note, word is that Oscar de la Renta will be designing Laura Bush's inaugural ball gown which will be made of silver/blue tulle embroidered in bugle beads and outlined in Austrian crystal.
Other designers who have recently been dressing Mrs. Bush include Carolina Herrera and Peggy Jennings (who I have never heard of until now).
For the upcoming festivities, the Bush twins will be wearing clothing designed by Badgely Mischka, Lela Rose, Derek Lam and Oscar de la Renta.
Yet dressing a First Lady is apparently not without its challenges:
Wrong Arnold. Telling a woman how bad she looks is not going to score you any points. It's like the stories I hear about women booking facials only to have the facialist go on and on about how bad their skin is, and that they this that and the other cream or potion. It's a big turn off.

Yet dressing a First Lady is apparently not without its challenges:
"You have to be very diplomatic to dress a president's wife," said Arnold Scaasi, who has wardrobed his share, including Barbara Bush, the president's mother; Mrs. Kennedy; and Mamie Eisenhower. "You must tell them nicely that they didn't look too great before you, and would look so much better now if they would only listen to you. "
