CBS Fires Four
Four CBS staffers have been fired over fake Bush National Guard documents. Fortunately, Mary Mapes was one of them. The independent panel assigned to investigate the "60 Minutes Wednesday Report" found that CBS sacrificed accuracy and CBS standards as a result of its "myopic zeal" to be first with the story.
Or how about the zealous obsession with bringing down a president during a war? Apparently, Mary Mapes had been working on this story for five years. And all she could come up with were forged documents which were quickly identified as such by bloggers.
