No More Underweight Fashion Models???
That's what Israeli fashion photographer Adi Barkan is working towards. Together with Likud Party legislator Inbal Gavrieli, who has tabled a bill demanding that models not be employed without a doctor’s certification that they’re not underweight, Barkan is working to present a more realistic image of women in Israeli fashion magazines.
Although this is a very good thing, I don't see it catching on in the States or Europe. There is too much at stake. If women, generally, were to feel good about themselves, as opposed to feeling fat, then Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire would no doubt, be out of business. Not a bad thing come to think of it.
I mean, I'd like to know once and for all, if men find THIS attractive:
D & G 2005 Collections
Or This:
Betsey Johnson 2005 Fashion Show
As Opposed to Marilyn Monroe here:
Marilyn Monroe in a Bathing Suit
Or here:
